General Queries Regarding CUET (UG)

• 1	What is CUET (UG)?

  Ans : CUET (UG) stands for Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate courses. CUET (UG) will provide a single window opportunity to students to seek admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) across the country. CUET (UG) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with the Universities. It is a single entrance test for admission to Central Universities and other participating Institutions which will be admitting the candidates to their UG courses based on the NTA Score secured by them in this test. The list of participating Institutions is hosted on the NTA website https://cuet.samarth.ac.in and can also be accessed from Drishti CUET University Section.

• 2	I secured 99% marks in Class XII but did not get admission in the desired university?

  Ans : In the past, candidates had this grievance that though they scored 99% in Class XII, they could not get admission in the Universities of their choice. This was basically because of the varied typology of questions and scoring pattern across different Boards in the country. These things will now get standardized with the introduction of CUET (UG) . The question paper pattern in CUET (UG) will be objective type comprising Multiple Choice Questions and hence evaluation will be objective. In this manner, subjectivity in evaluation of the descriptive type of papers in the traditional Class XII exams of different Boards will not handicap the candidates in getting admission to the University of their choice.

• 3	How will I prepare for both CUET (UG) and the Board Examinations?

  Ans : The syllabus for the subject/domain tests of CUET (UG) will be based on Class XII so that there is no pressure on the candidates to prepare for both the exams. The effort that would be required to do well at CUET (UG) will also help candidates to prepare well for their Board Examinations. Thereby, it would strengthen their learning

• 4	Will the Board Exam become redundant now?

  Ans : The basic eligibility criterion for entrance into Universities remains unchanged which is that a candidate must have passed the Class XII examination from any recognized Board or equivalent. In fact marks in grade XII for eligibility may vary across programs and Universities. Moreover Board examinations are achievement tests whereas CUET (UG) is a selection Test. Hence, Board Exams at Class XII level are not likely to become redundant. The basic eligibility criteria is a key factor for admission to all University and other examinations such as JEE & NEET at the National Level. The principles for University Entrance Exams will be similar. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will work to offer a high-quality Common Aptitude Test, as well as specialized common subject exams in the sciences, humanities, languages, arts and vocational subjects. These exams will test conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge and shall aim to eliminate the need for taking coaching for these exams. Students will be able to choose the subjects for taking the test, and each university will be able to see each student’s individual subject portfolio and admit students into their programmes based on individual interests and talents.

• 5	How does CUET (UG) provide more flexibility and options for me to choose from?

  Ans : In CUET (UG), a candidate may take maximum 09 tests in the following manner: 02 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 06 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III. OR Maximum of 03 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 05 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III.

• 6	The suggested system is less flexible than the admission process organically evolved by Universities over years?

  Ans : Candidates can choose upto 9 Subjects from Section 1A and 1B (languages), Section 2 (Domain specific Subjects) and Section 3 (General Test). S/He will have the flexibility to choose any one language as his medium for the test, from out of the 13 specified languages.

• 7	What about the flexibility and autonomy of Universities? Will it not be curtailed?

  Ans : The Counselling process is to be conducted by the respective Universities. The Universities will be preparing their respective Merit Lists for the offered programmes and may follow the same practice as in earlier years to fill the seats that fall vacant due to drop

• 8	Which Central Universities or Institutions are participating in this CUET (UG)?

  Ans : Please refer to the NTA website https://cuet.samarth.ac.in for the complete list of participating Institutions.

• 9	Is it compulsory for a candidate who desires to join any Central University to appear in CUET (UG) ?

  Ans : Yes. A candidate who wants to get admission in any UG courses in any Central University or its affiliated colleges must appear in CUET (UG). It has been mandated that admission to UG courses of Central Universities, will be done on the basis of NTA Score obtained in CUET (UG)

• 10	What is the mode of conducting the exam?

  Ans : It will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode

• 11	What is the pattern of the test?

  Ans : The test will be objective type. The question paper will comprise Multiple Choice questions.

• 12	What is the duration of the test?

  Ans : Language Test and Subject Tests are of 45 minutes duration each. General Test is of 1 hour duration. A candidate is required to appear only in the Test/s chosen by him

• 13	The Undergraduate course I want to do, is not available in the list of 27 Domain Specific Subjects being offered in CUET (UG) ? What should I do?

  Ans : Please check with the University where the course is offered to find out the tests that should be taken in CUET (UG) for the purpose of admission to that course.

• 14	I need to opt for Sanskrit, both as a language and domain specific subject. What should I do?

  Ans : For all Shastri (Undergraduate) courses being offered in Sanskrit, a candidate may choose Sanskrit as the Domain Subject from Section II. For choosing Sanskrit as Language a candidate may choose Sanskrit from Section IB which will be used for testing their Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages- Factual, Literary and Narrative.

• 15	How will performing Arts be tested?

  Ans : Performing arts Test will have two Parts: Part A which is compulsory will contain General questions and Part B will have Specific Questions related to the Dance/ Music Form opted by the Candidate as per desired University. No. of questions to be attempted will remain the same combining both Parts

• 16	What will be the level of question for CUET (UG)?

  Ans : All questions in various testing areas will be benchmarked at the level of Class XII only. Students having studied Class XII Board syllabus would be able to do well in CUET (UG).

• 17	How will the University admit the students to their courses?

  Ans : CUET (UG) has been designed in consonance with NEP where students will be able to choose the subjects for taking the test and each University will be able to see each student’s individual subject scores in subjects and admit students into their programmes based on their score in different subjects and languages.

• 18	Will a student be allowed to take exams in several subjects listed under Section II so as to apply to various streams?

  Ans : Yes. An applicant can opt for one or more combinations of the following: Language Test Domain subject test General Test He may opt up to a maximum of 6 subject tests in order to apply to different applicable streams that require these subjects for being eligible. They should have studied these subjects at grade XII or as prescribed by a particular University under their eligibility conditions for a particular programme. He may also opt upto a max of 3 languages for Language Test. In addition they can take the General Test as well. However, the third language chosen needs to be in lieu of 6th domain specific Subject chosen by the candidate - as applicable. • 19	Is there a skill test also after I pass this test?

  Ans : Yes, for skill based programmes like Dance/ Music/ Theatre Universities may conduct the skill test.

• 20	Will I get weightage for my Class XII Board marks in admissions?

  Ans : No, admission through CUET (UG) will purely be based on its Score in different Subjects/languages/ General Test reflected in the Score Card. However, minimum eligibility conditions of various Universities take into account the percentage of combinations of subjects as per the course/ programmes.

• 21	Role of NTA in CUET?

  Ans : NTA has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the CUET(UG). Role of NTA is confined to registration of candidates, issue of admit cards, conduct of exam, host answer keys and invite challenges, finalise answer keys, process and declare results. Eligibility, reservation, admission etc. are as per the rules and regulations of the respective Central University/ies/Participating Institutions. NTA has no role in the admissions to the Participating Institutions.

Rationale of CUET

• 1	How is CUET (UG) going to be helpful to a student

  Ans : The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) will be helpful to a student in the following ways:- In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95% marks in Class XII Board Examination so as to get admission in the University of their Choice. With the introduction of CUET (UG), the stress on them for securing very high marks in the one and only Board Examination stands reduced. Marks given by different Boards vary widely on account of the typology of questions and the scoring pattern. These things will now get standardised under CUET (UG). The question paper pattern in CUET (UG) will be objective type comprising Multiple Choice Questions and hence evaluation will be objective. In this manner, subjectivity in evaluation of the descriptive type of papers in the traditional Class XII exams of different Boards will not handicap the candidates in getting admission to the University of their choice. CUET (UG) will be held in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where result processing will be done through technology with no human intervention. CUET (UG) will be based on Class XII syllabus and hence candidates of Class XII need not prepare for it separately. In CUET (UG), students have a wide range of options-i.e. 27 subjects, 33 Languages and General Test to choose from. They can select the Subject/Language/General Test of their choice, as per the requirements of the University where admission is sought. They can also choose any of the 13 languages specified therein as medium of their test.

• 2	How will the CUET (UG) address the diversity of the students across the country?

  Ans : The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) will provide a common platform and equal opportunity across the country especially to those students coming from rural and urban areas including candidates from the three National Boards CBSE, AICSE and NIOS. In CUET (UG), students have a wide range of options-i..e 27 subjects, 33 Languages and General Test to choose from. They can select the Subject/Language/General Test of their choice, as per the requirements of the University where admission is sought. They can also choose any of the 13 languages specified therein as medium of their test.

• 3	How will CUET (UG) become a great Social equalizer?

  Ans : The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from North-East and from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with the Universities. It will test conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge and shall aim to eliminate the need for taking coaching for these exams.

• 4	What is the responsibility of applicants?

  Ans : Applicants should go through the information about the course, number of seats, eligibility, reservation, admission policy, tests in CUET (UG) to which the desired courses are mapped, etc available on the website of the University/ies where they wants admission and ensure that they are eligible for the desired course and the test which they should take in CUET (UG) and apply accordingly. It is the sole responsibility of the candidates to be clear about their choices and the requirements of the Universities where they want admission and ensure that they fulfil the eligibility requirements and thereafter fill the form correctly.

General Queries on Application form For CUET (UG)

• 1	How do I apply for CUET (UG)?

  Ans : You can submit your online Application Form for CUET (UG) at https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/. Please check the NTA website for the registration dates. Candidates who wish to appear for CUET (UG) are advised to go through the Prospectus of the desired University/ Universities/Participating Institution, for the tests to be chosen, for the courses desired, before applying.

• 2	What documents or certificates do I need to upload along with the Application Form?

  Ans : Candidates need to upload the following with the application form: Scanned images of photograph and signature. Certificates in respect of PwD/Category/BPL Certificate as applicable. The documents / certificates etc., shall be verified directly at the time of admission by the University.

• 3	How can I pay the Application Fee?

  Ans : You can pay the exam fee online using. SBI/ Canara Bank/ ICICI Bank/ Paytm payment gateways through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI/ Wallet. You need to keep proof of fee paid. In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee, the transaction will stand cancelled and the amount will be refunded for the credit of your account. However, you will have to make another transaction, in case the Confirmation Page is not generated and you want to appear in the test.

• 4	Am I required to submit two application forms if I want to apply for two separate Universities?

  Ans : No. You are required to submit only one application, even if you apply for more than one University or Participating Institution.

• 5	Am I required to submit two applications if I want to apply for more than one course/test?

  Ans : No. You are required to submit only one application, even if you apply for more than one course in the same University/different Universities. First, identify the Subjects/Language/General Test, which the University/ies, where admission is sought, requires for admission to the desired course, from the Prospectus of the respective University/ies, Thereafter you can choose the test/s, as applicable, in the same form subject to the maximum permitted. It is your responsibility to ensure that the tests chosen by you are in line with what is required for the course/s or University/ies where admission is sought. Multiple applications by the same candidate are not permitted. Each candidate is required to submit only one application.

• 6	Does the exam fee vary based on the tests/courses/Universities I apply for ?

  Ans : No. It varies with reference to the Slots that you apply for. The Slots that you apply for depend on the tests that you choose. The tests that you choose depend on the requirements of the desired University/ies for the desired courses. You may opt for Slot I or Slot II or both the Slots accordingly.

• 7	Can I use my friend’s email address when registering for CUET (UG)?

  Ans : No, you need to use a valid and unique email address of applicant only as all exam related communications will be made through registered e-mail ID and/or SMS only. In addition, you will not be able to change or edit the mobile number and email address on the Application Form later as these particulars are fixed.

• 8	I appeared in Class XII exam. My results are still awaited. Can I apply for CUET (UG)?

  Ans : Yes. However, you will be required to submit the relevant documents in support of your having qualified in Class XII exam, within the time frame that may be specified in the Prospectus of the University where admission will be sought. Hence, you are advised to visit the website/s of the desired University/ies and check the relevant date/s and act accordingly.

• 9	After final submission of the application, whether there will be a facility for editing the applicants’ details till the closing date of online application?

  Ans : Candidates will be permitted to edit the details filled by them before final submission of the Application Form. However, after submission they will not be able to edit any details. An online facility for making corrections will be made available through the “Correction window”, as per details given in the Information Bulletin. Candidates may make necessary corrections (in specified fields permitted) during correction period through the Correction Window. Candidates are advised to be in touch with the NTA website https://cuet.samarth.ac.in for updates in this regard.

• 10	Where do I need to check the eligibility criteria or Subjects/ tests which I need to take for appearing in CUET (UG)?

  Ans : As the eligibility criteria for admission may be unique for each University, the participating Institutions will upload all the required criteria for their respective programs, on their website/s. Candidates are advised to visit the desired University/ies for details. Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying on the Samarth platform (https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/) that they meet the eligibility criteria laid down by the University they are applying to.

• 11	Am I eligible to get admission if I have appeared in CUET (UG)?

  Ans : Mere appearance in the Entrance Test does not entitle you to be considered for admission to the Programme unless you fulfil the Programme wise eligibility conditions of the University you are applying to. Applicants must fully satisfy themselves about their programme wise eligibility as prescribed in the Information Bulletin or the University Prospectus, before filling the Application Form. Admission is subject to the admission policy of the University, number of seas available, reservation, demand, NTA Score secured, etc.

• 12	Do I have to mention the name/s of the University/ies/Participating Institution in my applicant form?

  Ans : Yes. You are required to indicate the name/s of the University/ies/Participating Institutions where you intend applying, in your application form for CUET (UG) to facilitate sharing of data post result, with the respective Universities for the admission process.

• 13	How many Universities can be chosen by the candidate at the time of registration?

  Ans : There is no cap on the number of Universities that you may select, at the time of applying. However the maximum number of tests to be taken remains 9 only i.e. 2 Languages+6 Domain Specific Subjects+1 General Test1. OR 3 Languages+5 Domain Specific Subjects+1 General Test. Flexibility is provided to help a candidate apply for many Universities depending on their eligibility conditions.

• 14	Do we have to give our preference for any University, while filling application form?

  Ans : No. You just have to indicate the name/s of the University/ies/Participating Institution/s that you intend applying. No need to give any preference.

• 15	I am currently studying in class 12 with the subject choice PCMB. Can I opt for Geography (Hons)? Can I take the combination of domain subject Geography, Biology, Chemistry for my CUET (UG)? Or Do I have to opt only for test relating to the subjects which I had studied at Class XII level?

  Ans : Your choice of test for CUET (UG) depends on the eligibility requirement of the desired University where admission is sought for the desired course. Hence, go through the prospectus of the University where you want admission and find out its eligibility requirements for the desired course, their admission policy etc. Once you are clear about the requirements, select the test in CUET (UG) application form.

• 16

  I want to apply for BA(Hons) in Chinese. So I have to choose Chinese from the I-B section. But Language is to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary and Narrative, [Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary]. But I don't know Chinese. What can I do in this matter? Will the questions be in Chinese or in English?

  Ans : Your choice of test for CUET (UG) depends on the eligibility requirement of the desired University where admission is sought for the desired course. Hence, go through the prospectus of the University where you want admission and find out its eligibility requirements for the desired course. Once you are clear about the requirements, select the test in CUET (UG) application form. The question papers of the “Language” tests will be in the language opted by the candidates.

• 17	What is the minimum number of domain subject/s one can apply?

  Ans : There is no such provision. The number of domain subjects that a candidate should select depends on the requirements of the desired University/ies for desired course/s. It depends solely on the requirements of the University for the desired course.

• 18	I want to opt Hindi in Language Test. But, I want to appear in other tests in English medium. Can I do this without affecting my medium of study in UG course in which admission is sought?

  Ans : You can opt for Hindi in Language Test and English medium for other tests. However, please make sure that whatever selections you do, is in accordance with the requirements of the University where admission is sought, for admission to the desired course therein.

• 19	I'm a Humanities student. I want to pursue my graduation in Psychology. But I don't have Psychology as a subject in Class 12th. Do I have to fill Psychology as Domain specific subject?

  Ans : Your choice of test for CUET (UG) depends on the eligibility requirement of the desired University/ies where admission is sought for the desired course. Hence, go through the prospectus of the University where you want admission and find out its eligibility requirements for admission to the desired course. Once you are clear about the requirements, select the test in CUET (UG) application form.

• 20	Do I need to send a Confirmation Page to NTA?

  Ans : The Candidates are NOT required to send/ submit the Confirmation Page of Online Application Form (or any document) to NTA. However, they are advised to retain the following documents with them for any future reference/correspondence: Copy of the Confirmation Page of Online Application Form (Download, save and Print at least 3 copies) Proof of fee paid (Download, save and Print at least 3 copies) Photographs (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form).

• 21	If I have made any mistake(s) while registering/applying, can I make corrections later in the Application Form?

  Ans : Once ‘Final Submit’ button has been clicked, the candidate’s details cannot be edited/changed. However, NTA may open the rectification/correction window, before issuance of Admit Card. No corrections shall be allowed after the closure of correction window and all particulars entered by the candidate would be considered as final.

• 22	I have made online payment for the exam fee but my confirmation page has not been generated. What to do?

  Ans : Such a problem occurs because of a drop in connectivity from Banks’ server to the server on which NTA website has been hosted. You are advised to wait for 24 hours if such a problem is faced by you. In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled, and the amount will be refunded to the candidate’s account. In such cases, the candidate has to make another transaction, to confirm and complete the application process.

• 23	I have made the online payment but my status is not updated on the system.

  Ans : If it is not updated within 24 hours the Candidate may raise a query in the Query redressal system or send a mail at [email protected] giving details of mobile number, application number, payment reference number and proof of payment.

• 24	Can I use my friend’s email address when registering for CUET (UG)?

  Ans : Any extra payment made by you will be refunded to you, after the closure of the “Correction window” after verification. In case you do not receive the refund within a reasonable time after the closure of the correction window, you may write to NTA giving details of your application number, phone number, email ID, details of amount paid, proof payment etc. at [email protected].

• 25	I made some corrections and submitted the form. After submission, I found that there still is some correction to be done. Can I do so?

  Ans : After submission of corrections, you cannot reopen the application and add more corrections. Please check the form thoroughly for further corrections before submission.

• 26	Why am I asked in the “correction window” to pay an additional fee after making corrections?

  Ans : The amount of exam fee depends on the Category and the Slot/s you apply to. Any change in any of these two fields may attract additional fee. Please check the Information Bulletin for the amount of fee payable by different Categories/Slots.

• 27	What is the minimum/maximum Age criterion for applying to CUET (UG)?

  Ans : There is no such criterion for applying to CUET (UG). However, admission in any University or Participating Institution is subject to age criteria that may be applicable as per their rules and regulations thereon.

• 28	Do the candidate’s name, mother's name and father's name have to be as per Class X or XII Certificate?

  Ans : Name of Candidate, Father's name and Mother's name are to be filled in as per Class X certificate. In case of a single parent, the candidate has the option to fill only one name.

• 29	Can an email ID and phone number be used for several applicants?

  Ans : Candidates are advised to fill only one Application Form and to take utmost care while filling out the mobile number and email address. Candidates are also advised to use the mobile number and email address that is accessible to them such as those of their parent/ guardian. One mobile number and email address can be used for one Application Form only. However in case of twins one mobile can be used for two candidates.

• 30	What are the steps in filling the online application form?

  Ans : Following are the steps in filling the application form: Step 1 - Registration Form Step 2 - Application Form And this includes filling of personal details, applying for examination cities, qualification details, additional details (if any), and document upload. Step 3 - Fee Payment

• 31	Can I choose any of the listed cities?

  Ans : The Choice of exam cities for a candidate will be limited to the State of his/her Permanent and Present address filled in the Online Application Form.

• 32	Can I fill the form in hard copy or offline mode?

  Ans : No, the application process is Online only. No hard copy or offline application is accepted.

General Queries Related to Admit Card

• 1	What are the exam dates/shift/timings?

  Ans : Your exam date/shift/timing will be indicated on your admit card.

• 2	How will I get my Admit Card ?

  Ans : The Admit Card will be uploaded on NTA website https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/ as per the schedule communicated through the website. Candidates need to check the Admit Card carefully for all particulars e.g. Roll No. Name, Subject Group, Date of Birth, Gender, Examination Centre Name, City, medium opted, Category etc. No physical admit cards will be issued.

• 3	If I do not get my Admit Card and in case my admit card has some issue, whom should I contact?

  Ans : In case of any problem relating to downloading of your Admit card, or if the details contained therein are incorrect, you may contact the NTA Helpdesk No. 011-40759000 or 011-6922 7700 between 09:30 A.M. and 5:30 PM on weekdays or write to NTA at [email protected].

• 4	Where can I get the name and address of the test centres?

  उत्तर : The name of your test centre will be mentioned on your Admit Card.

• 5	Can I change my test city after receiving Admit Card?

  Ans : No. No request for change of centre/exam city will be entertained under any circumstances.

• 6	Can I apply for a change of gender/category/subject opted/medium opted etc. which appear in the Admit Card?

  Ans : No

• 7	I applied for the General Test in the morning Slot and 4 domain tests in the Afternoon Slot. Will my tests be scheduled on the same date or on different dates?

  Ans : They may or may not be scheduled on different dates as per administrative/technical exigencies.

• 8	I applied for the General Test in the Morning Slot and 4 domain tests in the Afternoon Slot. They are scheduled on the same date but in different exam centres, though within the same city. The two centres are far away from each other. What can I do?

  Ans : NTA will address the issue at the relevant time, in the best interest of the students.

• 9	Can I request a change of date/shift of my exam?

  Ans : Any request for a change of date/shift will not be entertained.

• 10	What is the reporting time at the centre?

  Ans : Reporting time starts 2 hours prior to the scheduled commencement of the exam. However, candidates are advised to report as per the staggered entry slot mentioned on their Admit Card in order to avoid the crowd during verification of the admit cards, registration, frisking, etc.

• 11	What is the last time for entry into the Exam Centre?

  Ans : Candidates are required to be in the exam centre latest, half an hour before the commencement of the exam.

• 12	What documents do I need to carry to the examination centre on the day of the examination?

  Ans : Candidates MUST bring the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre: Admit Card along with Undertaking downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper). Any one of the original and valid Photo Identification Proof issued by the government – PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/ Passport/Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ EAadhaar/ Ration Card./ Aadhaar Enrolment No. with Photo. All other ID/Photocopies of IDs even if attested/scanned photo of IDs in mobile phone will NOT be considered as valid ID Proof. PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming relaxation under the PwD category. The scribe must also carry an Undertaking regarding educational qualification, etc, passport size photograph, valid government identity proof, and self-declaration regarding COVID-19 (as per the above format). You also need to carry the following: One sanitizer bottle (small) Mask and/or gloves Drinking water in a transparent bottle A simple transparent pen One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at Centre during the examination Note: Candidates will not be allowed to take personal items such as mobile phones, digital/analogue watches, food items, study material, lockets, bags, electronic gadgets or any other prohibited items into the testing room. You are advised not to bring these to the test centre.

• 13	Should I carry a paper to the exam hall for doing some Rough Work?

  Ans : No, blank sheets for doing rough work/calculations will be provided to the candidates at the exam centre and all calculations/rough work are to be done in the blank sheets only. Candidates are required to write their Roll Number and name on the rough sheets, as soon as the exam commences On completion of the test, candidates must drop these rough sheets along with Admit card and Undertaking in the designated box, as instructed by the invigilator on duty.

• 14	Can I move across the tests during the same slot?

  Ans : No. Each time slot is a combination of tests with different durations. Each test is distinct and is not linked to the other. They are not sections of the same paper. You will not be able to move across the tests, at your convenience. Once you start a test, you have to complete the duration of the test and only thereafter you will be able to move to the next test or leave the exam hall as you desire.

• 15	What about compensatory (Extra time) allowed to PwD candidates?

  Ans : Extra time is allowed to PwD candidates who are eligible for it, for each test separately. For a test of 45 minutes duration, the extra time permitted is 15 minutes. For a one hour test, extra time permitted to such candidates is 20 minutes. This extra time will be allowed test-wise and not in the aggregate.

• 16	I have opted for one Language test and two domain tests. I completed the Language test and one domain test. However, I do not want to appear in the second domain test in the same Slot. Can I leave the exam hall after completing?

  Ans : Yes. You can leave the exam hall after completion of the duration of the tests subjects in which you want to appear. It is not compulsory to appear in all the tests that you had opted for and admitted to. However, once you start a test, you have to sit through the duration of the test.

• 17	Is there a sequence in which the tests are to be taken within one Slot?

  Ans : No. You can take the tests as per your convenience.

• 18	I applied for all the tests in the Morning Slot. I completed a Language Test. I do not want to take domain tests. I want to go out and come back after 45 minutes and take the General Test? Is it permitted?

  Ans : Once you choose to go out of the exam hall, you will not be permitted to reenter the same slot and continue with the other tests. You will have to sit through all the tests that you want to appear in. No breaks will be permitted during the Slot.

• 19	Will I be able to submit my Test and move to the next Test, in case I want to, before the duration of the test expires?

  Ans : No. You will have to sit through the duration of a test, even if you complete it and would like to move to the next. Each of the tests is distinct and the system will not allow you to submit the paper before the duration of the paper expires.

• 20	Can I take the exam from any computer?

  Ans : No, a candidate will have to appear for the exam on a pre-assigned workstation of the test centre allocated to him/her mentioned in the Admit Card.

• 21	What if I could not appear in the examination on the scheduled date? Can I ask for a different date/shift?

  Ans : No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination centre/date/timings other than that allotted to them on their Admit card. Important: For those who are unable to appear on the scheduled date of the test for any reason, a retest shall not be held by the NTA under any circumstances.

• 22	If I do not take my exam, will I be eligible for a refund?

  Ans : No, there is no provision for refund of fees.

• 23	In case of any technical problems with the computer system, at the exam centre, what should I do? Will I lose time?

  Ans : In case of any technical problems with the computer at the exam centre due to which you are not able to continue the exam, inform the Invigilator. He/ She would fix the issue or will map you to another PC through a proper process. Your exam time in the next session will commence from the time you discontinued your exam, There would be no loss of time for you.

Queries on Post Exam Activities

• 1	What is the “Answer Key Challenge” process?

  Ans : After the exam is over, the question paper, responses of the candidates, and the provisional answer keys will be hosted on the NTA website, and challenges regarding answer keys will be invited from candidates. Candidates who appeared in the exam can challenge the answer keys by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200/- per answer key challenged, online. This online Challenge facility window will be open for a period of 2-3 days. The exact date of such a facility will be announced on the NTA website. Candidates are advised to be in touch with the NTA website for such dates. Challenges will be verified with experts and answer keys will be finalised thereafter. No individual communication regarding the outcome of challenges will be sent to the candidates who challenged the answer keys. Results will be processed based on such answer keys which are verified by experts.

• 2	How will I come to know the final answer keys based on which the results are ultimately processed?

  Ans : Final answer keys based on which the results are processed will be hosted on the NTA website before the results.

• 3	Will there be negative marking for a wrong answer?

  Ans : Each question carries 5 marks. One mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

• 4	How will I come to know my score?

  Ans : Score cards of candidates will be hosted on the NTA website. Candidates are advised to be in touch with the website.

• 5	The tests were held in multiple shifts across various dates with different question papers. How do you normalise the marks secured by the candidates?

  Ans : Please refer to the procedure prescribed in this regard given in Appendix VII of the Information Bulletin hosted on the NTA website.

• 6	Will the Score Cards give raw marks or percentile?

  Ans : Score cards will give NTA Score (percentile score). The percentile will be calculated for each of the tests in which the candidate appeared, separately.

• 7	What is NTA Score?

  Ans : NTA score is a percentile score of the candidate in the test in which he appeared. It indicates his position vis-à-vis others who appeared in it. It is not marked. It is an indicator of the relative position of the candidates amongst those who appeared in the test.

• 8	How is NTA Score calculated?

  Ans : Please refer to Appendix VII for details regarding the computation of the NTA Score.

• 9	What is the validity of the NTA Score?

  Ans : NTA Score of CUET (UG) is valid for admission to the UG courses in the Participating Institutions, for only one academic year for which test is conducted.

• 10	Whether admission to UG courses offered by the Central Universities will depend only on the NTA Score that I secured in CUET (UG)?

• 11	Will there be any interview also, for the purpose of admission to UG courses in Central Universities, in addition to NTA score secured in CUET (UG)?

  Ans : Score Cards will give section wise percentile if there are defined sections in the question paper.

  Ans : The Score Card will not contain Rank.

• 15	Is there any criteria for qualifying in the exam?

  Ans : There is no concept of qualifying or otherwise in CUET (UG). Each candidate will be given a Score Card giving details of the NTA score he secured.

• 16	The Score Card will show my marks in the test in which I appeared. In case of any disparity in my performance in the tests that I had appeared in, whether it will affect my admission to the desired course in the desired University?

  Ans : Admission to the desired course in the desired University is subject to a variety of factors such as eligibility, number of vacant seats, reservation, relaxations, marks secured by you in the tests that are relevant for the course, admission policy of the University, etc.

• 17	Can I apply for rechecking or reevaluation of my marks?

  Ans : No. There is no provision for rechecking or re-evaluation

• 18	What will happen if many Candidates get the same scores?

  Ans : Such situations will be addressed by each Participating Institution as per their rules/regulations. Please check the website of the Participating Institution/s for more details.

• 19	Who will determine the final merit list for Admission?

  Ans : NTA will generate and host the Score Card on its website. It will not prepare the Merit List since the criteria for preparing the same may vary with each Participating Institution. Each participating Institution will prepare the Merit List as per its own criteria and admit the candidates based on the NTA Score.

Select your examination and enter the desired details. Note: The demographic information (Aadhaar Name, Date of Birth, and Gender) will be matched with the data filled by the candidate. • 8	Is it mandatory to upload Gen-EWS, SC, ST, OBC(NCL), and PwD certificates?

  Ans : Yes, Gen-EWS/SC/ ST/OBC(NCL)/ PwD aspirants must upload original certificates as per prescribed formats issued by the authority of their respective states. If candidates do not have the certificate readily available, they can upload the self-undertaking (see the format in the Information Bulletin).

• 9	What is the validity of the Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWSGen.) and PwD certificate?

  Ans : In this regard, aspirants need to follow the rules of the relevant admitting Institutions.

• 10	I am a PwD candidate, eligible for a scribe. Can I use my own scribe for writing the Exam?

  Ans : Candidates will not be permitted to bring their own scribe for writing the test. NTA will provide the scribe to the eligible PwD Candidates.
