Every year, India celebrates Teachers’ Day on 5th September as it is the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
About Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
- Birth Date: 5th September 1888
- He was born in a Telugu Brahmin family in a village near Thiruttani India, in the erstwhile Madras Presidency near the border of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu states.
- He was the second President of India.
- He was also a renowned scholar and teacher.
- The scholar believed that teachers played a pivotal role in shaping the nation's future and should be duly acknowledged.
- He articulated, "Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if
- 5th September is observed as Teacher's Day."
Significance of the Day
- This day is dedicated to honour the role and importance of teachers in our lives.
