At their 6th summit level meeting, which took place at Archmere Academy, Mr. Biden's former school in Claymont, Delaware, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, U.S. President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan announced a wide range of outcomes.
Outcomes of Recent Summit
- Quad Cancer Moonshot
- It is a collective effort to leverage public and private resources to reduce the number of lives lost to cancer in the Indo-Pacific, with an initial focus on cervical cancer.
- Pandemic Preparedness
- In 2024, the Quad Health Security Partnership advanced regional resilience through pandemic preparedness.
- It is exploring developing Standard Operating Procedures for Pandemic Response.
- Mpox
- The Quad aims to coordinate efforts to ensure equitable access to safe and effective mpox vaccines in response to clade I and ongoing clade II outbreaks, including expanding vaccine manufacturing in low- and middle-income countries where appropriate.
- MARITIME SECURITY
- Quad has launched a new initiative called the Maritime Initiative for Training in the Indo-Pacific (MAITRI) to help regional partners effectively use tools from the IPMDA and other Quad initiatives. This initiative aims to help them monitor their waters, enforce laws, and prevent illegal activities.
- The Quad Indo-Pacific Logistics Network pilot project to facilitate faster and more effective civilian response to natural disasters throughout the Indo-Pacific area.
- The Semiconductor Supply Chains Contingency Network Memorandum of Cooperation to strengthen the resilience of Quad semiconductor supply chains.
- Reform at the UN Security Council
- The leaders acknowledged the urgent need to make it more representative, inclusive, and democratic by expanding both permanent and non-permanent membership categories.
