Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) 

  • Overview 
    • Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the Ministry of Minority Affairs. 
    • Focuses on socio-economic development in Minority Concentration Areas (MCAs). 
  • Implementation 
    • Operated through State/UT Governments. 
    • Projects are initiated on land already available with the State/UT. 
    • Land acquisition costs are not covered by the scheme. 
  • Monitoring 
    • States/UTs submit Quarterly Progress Reports (QPR) on physical and financial progress. 
    • District Level Committees review progress and report to State Level Committees (SLC). 
  • Coverage 
    • Implemented in 1300 Minority Concentration Areas and all Aspirational Districts. 
    • Extended to all districts across the country. 
  • Objective 
    • Develop infrastructure such as schools, colleges, polytechnics, girls' hostels, ITIs, and skill development centers for minority communities. 
  • Background 
    • Originally called the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP). 
    • Renamed and restructured as PMJVK.

Multi-Sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) 

The Multi-Sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) was a Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched by the Ministry of Minority Affairs to address the socio-economic and educational backwardness of Minority Concentration Areas (MCAs). It focused on creating infrastructure such as schools, health centers, skill development institutes, and housing.
