Why in News? 

The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister emphasized the role of the Online Assurances Monitoring System (OAMS) in managing government assurances. 

About OAMS: 

• Implemented by: Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) 
• Purpose: OAMS is a digital platform designed to track, monitor, and ensure the fulfilment of assurances made by Ministers in Parliament. 
• Assurances: These are promises or undertakings made by Ministers during the course of answers to questions or debates in the House. They are given when information is unavailable at that moment but needs to be fulfilled within a period of three months. 
• MoPA's Role: The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is assigned the responsibility for the implementation of assurances under the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961.
