About Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme
- Launched on 22nd January 2015, it targets social challenges such as female foeticide and child marriage.
- It focuses on the survival, safety, and education of girls through community participation and government support to create a secure environment.
Nirbhaya Kadhi and Mo Gelha Jhia (Ganjam)
The "Nirbhaya Kadhi" initiative empowers girls (11-18) to reject child marriage, while "Mo Gelha Jhia" addresses sex selection. By January 2022, Ganjam became child marriage-free through awareness and community efforts.
Kalpana Avijan (Dhenkanal)
"Kalpana Avijan" monitors girls (10-19) and prevents child marriage via local committees and awareness drives. From 2019-2024, it stopped 343 child marriages and promoted public commitments through schools and communities.
Swarna Kalika (Keonjhar)
"Swarna Kalika" raises awareness about child marriage’s impact, engaging over 2,000 stakeholders in campaigns. With sustained efforts and the ADVIKA app, Keonjhar reduced child marriages by 50%.
- Veerangana (Deogarh)
"Veerangana" provides self-defence training to girls, boosting confidence and teaching legal rights. Over 500 girls trained in 30-day camps, and around 6,000 students benefited through school programs.
