Why in News?
The NAKSHA Programme was launched by the Union Minister of Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh.
What is NAKSHA?
The National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) is a government initiative aimed at digitizing and updating land records in urban areas. It ensures accurate land ownership documentation, reducing disputes and enhancing urban planning.
Objectives
- Empower citizens with transparent property records.
- Improve ease of living through an efficient land management system.
- Enhance urban planning with precise geospatial data.
- Minimize land-related disputes by ensuring reliable documentation.
Key Features
- Technology-Driven System: Utilizes an IT-based platform for property record management, promoting efficiency and transparency.
- Aerial Surveys: Conducted by the Survey of India, which provides high-resolution orthorectified imagery through third-party vendors.
- Web-GIS Platform: Developed by the Madhya Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation (MPSEDC).
- Secure Data Storage: Managed by the National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI).
- State & UT Participation: Local governments conduct field surveys and verification, leading to final publication of urban and semi-urban land records.
