Why in the News?

The Indian Army contingent departed today for the 5^th edition of India-Oman Joint Military Exercise AL NAJAH. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 13^th to 26^th September 2024 at Rabkoot Training Area in Salalah, Oman.

About AL NAJAH

• Held: Biennially alternatively between India and Oman since 2015.
• Last Edition: Rajasthan
• Parties: Indian Army and Royal Army of Oman
• Troops: 60 personnels from Battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment from Indian Army and 60 personnels from Frontier Force of The Royal Army of Oman.
• This exercise will focus on operations in the Desert environment.
• Tactical drills to be rehearsed during the exercise include Joint Planning, Cordon and Search Operation, Fighting in Built Up Area, establishment of Mobile Vehicle Check Post, Counter Drone and Room Intervention, among others.
