About CARICOM (Caribbean Community) Summit
- It is a crucial diplomatic gathering aimed at fostering cooperation between member states of the Caribbean region.
- The Second India-CARICOM Summit took place on 20th November, 2024, marking a significant step in strengthening India-Caribbean relations.
- This summit was co-chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell of Grenada, the current chair of CARICOM.
- This event provided a platform for leaders to discuss mutual interests such as economic growth, climate change, technology, health, and more.
- Formation of CARICOM: It was established on 1st Augsut, 1973, through the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas by Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
