About Dokra Art 

  • Dokra (or Dhokra) is an ancient metal casting craft using the lost wax technique, dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization. 
  • Known for being one-of-a-kind due to the single-use mold process. 
  • Every piece is handcrafted, making it unique and non-replicable. 

Origin & Practice 

  • Named after the Dhokra Damar tribes. 
  • Practiced by Gadwas, Gonds, and Dhurwas tribes in Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand. 
  • Recognized for its tribal themes, folk motifs, and utility items.
