AI Supercomputer ‘AIRAWAT’

  • The 61st edition of the Top 500 Global Supercomputing List has been announced at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC 2023) in Germany.
  • The AI Supercomputer named 'AIRAWAT', located at C-DAC in Pune, has achieved the impressive rank of 75th worldwide.
  • This accomplishment positions India as a leading nation in the field of AI Supercomputing. The installation of this system is part of the Government of India's National Program on AI.

Goa Signed MoU with Uttarakhand

  • Government officials from Goa and Uttarakhand have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a collaborative partnership aimed at improving the tourism sectors in both regions.
  • The MoU is aimed at promoting bilateral cooperation in the travel and tourism sector and facilitating travel between the states to increase the number of tourists visiting Goa and Uttarakhand respectively. 

GRSE Launched ‘GAINS 2023’

  • Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd, a prominent defence shipyard and a Category 1 Mini Ratna Company in India, has initiated a mission to discover and promote the creation of inventive solutions that contribute to technological advancements in shipbuilding, specifically by Startups.
  • In line with this objective, the company has introduced the GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme – 2023, also known as "GAINS 2023," in Kolkata.
  • This program aims to harness the potential of an ecosystem that effectively tackles current and future challenges in the ship design and construction sector.

Upgradation of Unani Medicine System

  • Ministry of Minority Affairs has supported Central Council of Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) and National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) Bengaluru, under the Ministry of Ayush, for the promotion and upgradation of Unani Medicine facilities in India.
  • Ministry of Minority Affairs has approved a grant of Rs. 45.34 Crores under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), a centrally sponsored scheme (CSS). This will support the upgradation of Unani Medicine facilities at Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Silchar and Bengaluru.

Axis Bank Introduces ‘Sarathi’

  • Axis Bank, one of the leading private sector banks in India, has launched a first of its kind digital onboarding system called "Sarathi."
  • This innovative platform allows merchants to seamlessly utilize electronic data capture (EDC) or point of sale (POS) systems.
  • By leveraging real-time database checks and live video verification, Sarathi expedites the application process and facilitates paperless onboarding, ensuring swift installation of POS terminals for merchants.
  • The solution enables speedy installations within just 45 minutes of processing the application.

SAMARTH Campaign

  • Shri Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, inaugurated the 'SAMARTH Campaign on Promoting Digital Transactions in 50,000 Gram Panchayats' under the AmritMahotsav in Lucknow.
  • The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, is currently implementing the "Samarth Campaign on Promoting Digital Transactions in 50,000 Gram Panchayats" as part of the AzadiKaAmritMahotsav.
  • The campaign, which commenced on February 1, 2023, and will run until August 15, 2023, primarily focuses on promoting digital transactions in rural areas, with a special emphasis on empowering women.

Gupshup Launches UPI Payments for Feature Phones

  • Gupshup, the conversational engagement platform, has introduced UPI payments for feature phone users through their native app called GSPay.
  • Developed in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), this app allows users to make payments using SMS or IVR-based systems, eliminating the need for data or internet connectivity.
  • Gupshup has utilized UPI 123 Pay, an instant payment system launched by the Reserve Bank of India and NPCI, to ensure secure and reliable transactions for feature phone users.
  • The app will be accessible on the latest models of Nokia 105 and Nokia 106 4G feature phones, in partnership with HMD Global, enabling users to scan QR codes for making payments.
