India and Australia Signed a Migration Partnership Agreement

  • In a notable advancement that underscores the deepening relationship between India and Australia, the two countries have formally signed significant agreements pertaining to migration and mobility partnership, along with the establishment of a task force focused on Green Hydrogen.
  • These Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were exchanged after a bilateral meeting held between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Sydney.

Launch of the 'Shasan Aplya Dari' Initiative

  • Under the guidance of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Maharashtra government is preparing to introduce a new program called 'Shasan Aplya Dari' (government at your doorstep).
  • This initiative aims to streamline access to government schemes and documents by providing citizens with a centralized platform. District administrations have been instructed to conduct two-day camps in their respective regions to expedite the delivery of benefits to approximately 75,000 residents.
  • The inaugural event for this campaign will take place in Satara district, which holds significance as it is the Chief Minister's home district.

International Booker Prize 2023

  • Kerala, a state located in southern India, is on the verge of creating history by proclaiming itself as the nation's inaugural "total e-governed state."
  • Leveraging its distinction as the first fully-literate state in India, Kerala has accomplished this remarkable feat through a series of policy measures designed to establish a digitally-enabled society.
  • By prioritizing a knowledge-driven economy and attaining 100% digital literacy, the government has successfully digitized the provision of essential services across diverse sectors.
  • This transformation has fostered transparency, inclusivity, and widespread accessibility for all residents of Kerala.

World Thyroid Awareness Day 2023

  • Every year on 25th May, World Thyroid Day is observed globally as an annual event. This day holds significance for all nations as thyroid disease remains a pressing global health issue, necessitating awareness of its impact on our well-being.
  • The choice of 25th May as the date for the World Thyroid Day celebration is rooted in the establishment of the European Thyroid Association (ETA) on this day.
  • ETA was the first organization to commemorate this day, and later in 2010, the American Thyroid Association (ATA) declared its support for the initiative, solidifying the significance of this date in raising awareness about thyroid health.

International Week of Solidarity with the Peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories

  • The United Nations has officially designated the period from May 25th to 31st as the "International Week of Solidarity with the Peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories."
  • This observance was established by a resolution passed by the UN General Assembly on December 6, 1999. As per the UN Charter, the term "Non-Self-Governing Territory" refers to a territory in which its people have not yet achieved full self-government.

Historic Sengol to Take Pride of Place in New Parliament Building

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah has revealed that the forthcoming inauguration of the new parliament building will witness a noteworthy addition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be placing a significant golden sceptre in the vicinity of the Speaker's seat.
  • In reference to the golden sceptre that will be placed near the Speaker's seat during the inauguration of the new parliament building, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has emphasized its historical importance.
  • He highlighted that the sceptre was initially bestowed upon India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, symbolizing the momentous transfer of power from the British to the Indian populace. Furthermore, Mr. Shah elucidated that the sceptre, referred to as "sengol," originates from the Tamil term "semmai," which conveys the concept of "righteousness."

Hari Budha Magar Scripted History by Conquering the World's Highest Mount Everest with Artificial Legs

  • After conquering Mount Everest with prosthetic legs, Hari Budha Magar, a former Gurkha soldier from Nepal who lost both his legs, received a heartfelt welcome from his relatives and family members upon his return to Kathmandu.
