104th Anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre 

  • On April 13, 1919, a group of peaceful protesters were gunned down in an enclosed park with only one exit, resulting in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.  
  • In 1951, the Government of India erected a monument to honour the spirits of all the innocent people whose lives were taken in this incident.  
  • The Yaad-e-Jallian Museum, which also opened in March 2019, provides an authentic account of the massacre. 

First Photographic Proof of Tigers in UP's Suhelwa Sanctuary 

  • According to a test report on the country's tiger census, Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh is a new location where photographic evidence of tigers has been recorded for the first time. 
  • Recently, Suhelwa and Sohagi Barwa wildlife sanctuaries were added to tiger detected grids.  
  • According to the report, both the wildlife sanctuaries need prey and habitat restoration along with major investment in protection for securing the in population. 

 Gond painting from Madhya Pradesh receives GI tag 

  • The prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) label has been given to the well-known Madhya Pradesh Gond painting.  
  • A sign known as a geographical Indication (GI) tag is applied to goods that originate from a specific location and have characteristics or a reputation that are attributed to that location.  
  • It is utilized for modern items, food item, horticulture items, soul beverages, and crafted works.  
  • The GI Tag ensures that the popular product's name can only be used by registered authorized users. 

3-D Printing in Post Office Building 

  • Bengaluru will soon have India’s first post office constructed using 3D printing technology. 
  • The project at Cambridge Layout in Ulsoor is being implemented by Larsen & Toubro, which has experience in constructing 3D-printed buildings. 

 China Records World’s First Human Death from H3N8 Bird Flu 

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that a Chinese woman was the first person to die from a rare strain of bird flu that does not appear to spread between people. 
  • "Based on available information, it appears that this virus does not have the ability to spread easily from person to person, and therefore the risk of it spreading among humans at the national, regional, and international levels is considered to be low," the WHO said in the statement. 

SEBI’S New Logo on its Foundation Day 

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) held a ceremony in Mumbai to unveil its new logo in honour of Sebi Foundation Day.  
  • The new logo represents SEBI's commitment to incorporating the power of technology and data into policymaking and to facilitating economic growth through capital formation. 

The Securities and Exchange Board of India: 

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India was constituted as a non-statutory body on April 12, 1988, through a resolution of the Government of India. 
  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India was established as a statutory body in the year 1992 and the provisions of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (15 of 1992) came into force on January 30, 1992. 

Tripura High Court gets a New Chief Justice 

  • The Tripura High Court's new chief justice, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, will take over for Justice Jaswant Singh, who recently resigned.  
  • According to a notification issued by the Department of Justice in the Law Ministry, the President of India has appointed Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, a judge at the Jharkhand High Court, to the position of Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court with effect from the date he takes office.  
  • This appointment was made in accordance with the powers granted by Article 217 of the Indian Constitution. Justice Singh, who was born on July 7, 1965, began his legal career in 1990. 

Tibet Ranked World's Least Free Country in Freedom House Index 

  • According to the Freedom in the World Index for 2023, which was released by international watchdog Freedom House, Tibet is the nation with the least freedom in the world, as highlighted in a recent report by Tibet Press.
