Why in News? 

India has reached a major achievement in defense technology with the successful test of its first indigenously developed Bhargavastra micro-missile system, aimed at countering swarm drone threats. 

Bhargavastra: India’s Counter-Drone Micro-Missile System 

• Bhargavastra is India’s first micro-missile-based system designed to counter swarm drones.  
• Developed by Economic Explosives Ltd, it can detect and neutralize small drones at over 6 km.  
• Primarily designed for the Indian Army, although the Indian Air Force has also shown interest in it.
