About AMRUT 2.0

  • Launched: 1st October 2021
  • Major focus areas of AMRUT 2.0:
    • Rejuvenation of water bodies
    • Development of green spaces and parks
    • Technology Sub-Mission to leverage latest technologies in the field of water are other components of the Mission.
  • Budget Outlay: ₹2,99,000 crore (including Central share of ₹76,760 crore for five years).
Note: The projects taken-up under AMRUT are large infrastructure projects with long gestation periods.

About AMRUT

  • Launched: 25th June 2015
  • Purpose of the AMRUT Mission:
    • To ensure that every household has access to a tap with assured supply of water and a sewerage connection
    • To increase the value of cities by developing greenery and well-maintained open spaces such as parks
    • To reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorised transport.
  • Budget Outlay: ₹50,000 crore for five years from FY 2015-16 to FY 2019-20.
