Why in the News?
Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the continuation of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog with an enhanced budget of ₹2,750 crore till March 31, 2028. AIM 2.0 aims to strengthen India's position in the Global Innovation Index and its start-up ecosystem, supporting the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

- Enhanced Objectives:
- Build on the achievements of AIM 1.0 (Atal Tinkering Labs and Atal Incubation Centers).
- Focus on scaling successes, piloting new initiatives, and filling gaps in India’s innovation ecosystem.

- Increasing Input: More innovators and entrepreneurs.
- Improving Throughput: Higher success rate for start-ups.
