Why in News? 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates the 15th edition of the biennial Aero India at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka, Bengaluru on February 10, 2025. 

About  

  • Objective: Showcasing India’s advancements in aviation, defence, and aerospace technologies while promoting the "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives. 
  • Theme: The Runway to a Billion Opportunities. 
  • Participants: Features global and domestic aerospace companies, defence manufacturers, and industry leaders. 
  • Exhibitions: Includes fighter jet displays, military equipment exhibitions, aerobatic performances, and technology pavilions. 
  • Significance: Acts as a platform for international collaboration, defence partnerships, and technology sharing to boost India's aerospace capabilities.

  • Fifth-Generation Fighter Jets 
    • Russian Su-57: Making its international flying debut, the Su-57 showcases advanced stealth capabilities. 
    • American F-35 Lightning II: The U.S. Air Force presents the F-35, emphasizing its cutting-edge avionics and stealth features. 
  •  Indigenous Innovations 
    • HAL's Light Utility Helicopter (LUH): Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) displays the LUH, designed for versatile roles in both military and civilian applications. 
    • Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA): A full-scale model of India's fifth-generation stealth fighter, the AMCA, is unveiled, highlighting the nation's strides in indigenous aircraft development. 
  •  Indian Navy's Showcases 
    • Twin Engine Deck-Based Fighter (TEDBF): A scaled model of the TEDBF is presented, indicating future capabilities for carrier-based operations. 
    • Varuna Formation Flypast: Featuring the P-8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft flanked by MiG-29K and Hawk 132 jets, this display symbolizes the Navy's aerial prowess. 
  •  Aerial Displays: The Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team performs intricate maneuvers, captivating audiences with their precision flying.
