Why in News ? 

The 38^th National Games commenced in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the event's role in showcasing India's sporting talent and reiterated the nation's ambition to host the 2036 Olympics.

About National Games 2025 

• Overview: A multi-sport Olympic-style event where athletes from states and UTs compete for medals. 
•  Host & Schedule: The 38^th edition will be held in Uttarakhand from 28^th January to 14^th February 2025, marking the state's first-time hosting. 
•  Sports & Events: Includes 32 competitive disciplines and 4 demonstration sports 
  • Kalaripayattu (martial art) 
  • Yogasana (fitness sport) 
  • Mallakhamb (gymnastics on a pole/rope) 
  • Rafting (adventure sport) 
•  Mascot & Theme: Mouli, the Monal (state bird of Uttarakhand) symbolizes natural beauty and the tagline "Sankalp Se Shikhar Tak" reflects determination and excellence.
