WHAT is CUET?

Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) is a standardised exam for admission into various undergraduate (UG), postgraduate and research programs in Central Universities under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

Introduced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in 2022.

One examination for candidates to participate in the admission processes of Central Universities.

Platform of equal opportunities for candidates across the country, especially those from rural and remote areas, establishing better connections with the universities.

WHY CUET (UG)?

This examination is beneficial to the students as it:

  • Reduces the hassle of taking multiple entrance exams for different universities.
  • Provides a level playing field for students from different boards by testing fundamental skills and concepts.
  • Ensures fairness for applicants by bringing them together on a single platform.

WHO can appear for CUET (UG)?

Students who have qualified their 10+2 or intermediate or equivalent from any recognised board and seek admission to various Science, Commerce and Humanities undergraduate courses in top Central Universities.

WHEN is CUET (UG) Conducted?

WHERE is CUET (UG)
Conducted?

This examination, conducted in 13 languages across 380 cities in India and 26 cities abroad, offers flexibility by allowing students to attempt it in hybrid mode:

  • Online : Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Offline : Pen and Paper

Exam Pattern of CUET (UG)

The exam is broadly divided into three sections of 63 Subjects in total:

  • 33 Languages
  • 29 Domain-specific subjects
  • 01 General Test
  1. 40 out of 50 questions are to be attempted in all subjects including languages.
  2. 50 out of 60 questions are to be attempted for General Test.
  3. The duration of the test will be of 45 minutes.
  4. Exception: The duration of the test will be 60 minutes for Accountancy, Economics, Physics, Computer Science / Informatics Practices, Chemistry, Mathematics / Applied Mathematics subjects and General Test.

Note: Candidates may choose a maximum 6 subjects including languages (Indian and Foreign) and General Test.

Candidates may choose a maximum of 6 subjects, including languages (Indian and Foreign) and General Test.

  • Syllabus: Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary and Narrative), Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary.
  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Questions to Attempt: 40 out of 50 questions
