 13-Sep-2024

Introduced in 2020, in its new form by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in partnership with the UGC, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an entrance exam for Indian students seeking admission to the top central and private universities. The CUET provides a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas, and helps establish better connections with the Universities. A single examination enables the candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process.

CUET is conducted at two levels:

  • CUET (PG): For postgraduate admissions
  • CUET (UG): For undergraduate admissions.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is being introduced for admission into all UG Programmes in all Central Universities for Academic session 2024-25 under the Ministry of Education, (MoE).

Role of NTA:

  • National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.
  • The Role of NTA is confined to the registration of candidates, the conduct of the test, hosting of answer keys, inviting challenges, finalising answer keys, preparing and declaring results, and hosting Score Card.
  • Assessing competence of candidates for admissions and recruitment has always been a challenge in terms of matching with research based international standards, efficiency, transparency and error free delivery. The National Testing Agency is entrusted to address all such issues using best in every field, from test preparation, to test delivery and to test marking.
