CUET UG Language Test Preparation

CUET exam is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) every year in a total of 33 languages.

Sections Subjects/Tests
Section I (Language)

Contains language test divided in:

  • Section IA - 13 Languages
  • Section IB - 20 Languages (optional)
Section II (Domains) Contains 29 domain specific subjects
Section III (General Test) Contains quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and general knowledge

 

The language section (Section I) is divided into two sections IA & IB in which section IA consists of 13 languages (English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu) and section IB consists of 20 languages (Arabic, Bodo, Chinese, Dogri, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Nepali, Persian, Russian, Santhali, Sindhi, Spanish, Tibetan, Sanskrit)

Paper Pattern of Language Paper:

A. Questions from the Language Section will be from the following topics but are not limited to:

  1. Reading Comprehension: 
    There will be three types of passages (maximum 300-350 words):
    1. Factual 
    2. Narrative 
    3. Literary 
  2. Verbal Ability
  3. Rearranging the parts 
  4. Choosing the correct word 
  5. Synonyms and Antonyms 
  6. Vocabulary

B. There will be one Question Paper which will have 50 questions out of which 40 questions need to be attempted.

C. The language section will assess a candidate's reading comprehension based on different types of passages. This section will also include questions from grammar.

D. The paper consists of Objective type multiple choice questions (MCQ). Each question carries five marks for the correct one and -1 for the incorrect one.

E. Duration of the Paper would be 45 minutes.

Preparing for Language Test
